2025 BECE Registration for School and Private Candidates: All You Need to Know

The 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for both school and private candidates is just around the corner, and registration for the examination has officially begun.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has set clear procedures for the registration of candidates, and it is essential that heads of schools and private candidates adhere to the timelines and guidelines to avoid delays or issues during the registration process.


Key Registration Dates and Timeline

  1. School Candidates Registration Period:

  • Start Date: Monday, 17th February 2025
  • End Date: Friday, 21st March 2025
    This period covers the capturing of personal information, subject selection, and uploading of candidate pictures. Heads of schools are advised to ensure that they complete the registration before the 21st March deadline to avoid penalties.

  1. Online Uploading of CASS Data:
  • Date: 4th April – 30th April 2025 During this period, schools will be required to upload the Continuous Assessment (CASS) data of their candidates. It is crucial that schools ensure the accuracy of these data entries to avoid discrepancies during the examination process.
  1. School Choice and Uploading of Data:

  • Start Date: 5th May 2025
  • End Date: 31st May 2025 Schools will also need to download the School Choice software, select their schools, and upload the final data by 31st May 2025.

Eligibility Criteria for 2025 BECE Candidates

Submission of Materials

Once the registration process is completed, heads of schools must submit the Photo Album generated from the registration software to District Directors of Education no later than Monday, 31st March 2025.

Corrections can be made online until 21st March 2025. A new Statement of Entries reflecting the corrected version must be printed after the corrections are made.


Payment of Registration Fees

Private Candidates are required to pay their registration fees at any of the following banks after completing their registration:

  1. Consolidated Bank (Ghana) Ltd.
  2. Access Bank (Ghana) Ltd.
  3. Ecobank (Ghana) Ltd.
  4. Zenith Bank (Ghana) Ltd.
  5. United Bank for Africa (Ghana) Ltd.
  6. Bank of Africa (Ghana) Ltd.
  7. Prudential Bank (Ghana) Ltd.
  8. Agricultural Development Bank (ADB)

 

Important Notes for Private Candidates:

  • Payment Validity: Registration will only be valid after the fee payment has been made.
  • No Bank Charges: There are no bank charges on the registration fees.
  • No Payment Orders: Payment orders will not be accepted, and candidates should ensure that they follow the payment instructions carefully.
  • Note for School Candidates: The Government of Ghana will absorb the registration fees for candidates from public schools, so there is no need for public school students to make any payments.
