Professor Seidu Alhassan, an Educationist and a Professor of Agricultural Economics, has been appointed to be the Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies (UDS).
Professor Seidu Alhassan was appointed by the Governing Council of the university on 9th June 2022 and takes over as the new Vice-Chancellor on 1st September 2022.
The fifth (5th) appointed vice-chancellor Professor Seidu Alhassan originates from Jisonaayili a suburb in Temale.

Professor Seidu Alhassan is a holder of masters in Economics, a Degree in Economics and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Agricultural Economics.
He became a Senior Research Assistant in the Department of Economics and Entrepreneurship Development in the year 1996.
A year after, Professor Seidu Alhassan was appointed as a Lecturer in the same Department. In 2008, he became a Senior Lecturer in Economics and Entrepreneurship.
He also became an Associate Professor in 2014 and further gained his Professorship in 2018.

Professor Seidu Alhassan is said to have 40 peer-reviewed journal publications and also an author of two books (Writing a Thesis: A Guide for Social Science Students and also Ghana’s Shea Industry: Knowing the Fundamentals).
Also, before his appointment as vice-chancellor, he held some positions within the period of August 2010 to November 2015.
Professor Seidu Alhassan heads the Department of Food Security and Climate Change and once served as the Director of the Institute for Continuing Education and Interdisciplinary Research (ICEIR).
Again Professor Seidu was appointed as the Commissioner for the National Development Planning Commission from 2015-2017.
In 2021, Professor was appointed to be the Chairman of the Northern Region Sports Committee.

Seidu Alhassan has held some vital positions during his teaching in University for Development Studies. He held the position of dissemination of research knowledge and mentorship.
Professor has gained knowledge in some fields; conflict management, sexual reproductive health, democracy, social accountability microfinance, civic education and capacity-building programmes in leadership, gender, data management, empowerment and environmental protection.
Professor Seidu is known to be a man having Eight (8) children with his beautiful two wives.
