In a resounding victory, Professor Ransford Gyampo has been elected as the latest President of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG-UG) at the University of Ghana Chapter, securing an impressive 93.3% of the valid votes cast.
The announcement of his win was made on the evening of August 17, 2023, when he took to social media to share his elation.
Professor Gyampo’s triumph came to fruition on Thursday, August 11, 2023, after he successfully outpaced his sole competitor, Dr Samuel Nkumbaan. Dr Nkumbaan garnered 6.7% of the votes, conceding to Professor Gyampo’s overwhelming support.
Notably, Professor Gyampo boasts a robust background as a political science lecturer within the University of Ghana’s academic ranks.
Moreover, he has established himself as a prominent human rights advocate and a vocal social commentator.
His outspoken stance on a spectrum of issues, spanning the interests of university educators, matters of corruption, and the political landscape, has garnered recognition.
