NSMQ2019: Boa Amponsem SHS exits KNUST SHS to make historic appearance at the quarterfinals

Central Region’s Boa Amponsem SHS has made it to their first ever quarter final feature since the inception of the National Science and Maths Quiz competition.

The contest, which featured 2019 seeded school, KNUST SHS and first timers Northern School of Business SHS saw Boa Amponsem SHS triumph over their contenders with an impressive show of wits and intellect.

The victors stole an early lead over their contenders in the first round and stretched it all the way through the remaining rounds of the contest.

All was bright for fist timers in giving Boa Ampem a chase until their solution for the third round (Problem of the Day) was annulled through by the quiz mistress, Elsie Effah Kaufmann, for presenting two different solutions for the ‘problem’.

Any school that qualifies for the quarters finals becomes a seeded school for the 2020 NSMQ competition thus the school would join the next year’s competition at the one-eighth round in the National quiz without having to go through the Regional contests and subsequently the preliminary contests.

Boa Amponsem SHS will face Tamale SHS and St. Augustine’s College in the quarter finals stage of the completion. The contest is scheduled to take place on Saturday [July 6] at the RS Amegashie Auditorium at 1 pm.
