St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School has advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) after a dominant performance against Tamale SHS and O’Reilly SHS at Auditorium 900.

The 2025 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) continues to thrill audiences as St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School secured a commanding victory over Tamale SHS and O’Reilly SHS in the One-Eighth stage of the competition held at Auditorium 900.
The Aquinas boys demonstrated consistency and composure throughout the five rounds, finishing with an impressive 51 points. Tamale SHS followed with 37 points, while O’Reilly SHS ended with 25 points.
Round-by-Round Breakdown
The contest opened with a high-energy first round, where St. Thomas Aquinas SHS quickly took the lead with 22 points, leaving Tamale SHS and O’Reilly SHS tied at 9 points each.
The momentum continued in Round Two — the @TrusturAI Speed Race — as Aquinas extended their lead to 30 points, followed by Tamale SHS at 24 points, and O’Reilly SHS at 9 points.
In the Prudential Life Insurance Ghana Problem of the Day, Aquinas scored 5 out of 10, while Tamale SHS and O’Reilly SHS managed 3 points each, keeping the Cape Coast-based school comfortably ahead.
The fourth round, sponsored by @JupayOfficial, introduced a unique incentive where schools could redeem promo codes worth $20 per institution for their participation. Aquinas led this round with 45 points, Tamale SHS trailed with 34 points, and O’Reilly SHS maintained 22 points.
The final GOIL PLC Riddle Bonanza sealed the fate of the contest, with Aquinas finishing strong at 51 points, confirming their advancement to the quarterfinals of NSMQ 2025.
A Commanding Display
St. Thomas Aquinas SHS’s victory reaffirms their reputation as one of Ghana’s consistent NSMQ contenders. Their balance of speed, accuracy, and teamwork proved decisive against strong competition from the Northern and Greater Accra Regions.
Tamale SHS, despite their spirited effort, could not overturn Aquinas’s early advantage, while O’Reilly SHS displayed determination but struggled to match the pace of the leaders.
