St. Augustine’s College has booked its place in the grand finale of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) after a thrilling semifinal victory over Pope John SHS & Minor Seminary and Amaniampong SHS.

St. Augustine’s College Triumphs in Heated Semifinal

In another electrifying semifinal contest of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), St. Augustine’s College rose to victory with a total of 46 points, outsmarting Pope John SHS & Minor Seminary who finished with 38 points, and Amaniampong SHS who ended with 23 points.The contest, held at the Primetime Auditorium, was filled with tension and excitement as each round kept spectators on edge.

Early Lead by Pope John SHS

The competition began with Pope John SHS & Min. Sem. taking an early lead in the first two rounds, scoring 13 and 15 points respectively, ahead of St. Augustine’s College and Amaniampong SHS. Their consistent performance placed them as early favourites for the match.

The Turning Point — Problem of the Day

Round 3 saw both Pope John SHS & Min. Sem. and St. Augustine’s College deliver flawless performances in the Problem of the Day, each scoring 10 out of 10. This perfect execution marked a major shift, setting the tone for a fierce battle in the rounds that followed.

St. Augustine’s College Rallies Back

By the end of Round 4, St. Augustine’s College had overturned the deficit, leading with 37 points, followed closely by Pope John SHS & Min. Sem. with 35 points, while Amaniampong SHS trailed at 23 points.The Riddles Round sealed the deal, as Augustine’s students displayed precision and composure, securing the win and earning a spot in the Grand Finale of the NSMQ 2025.

Final Scores

– St. Augustine’s College: 46 points – Pope John SHS & Min. Sem.: 38 points – Amaniampong SHS: 23 points

Road to the Grand Finale

St. Augustine’s College now joins Mfantsipim School, who earlier defeated GSTS and Mankranso SHS, in the final. The last semifinal will determine the third finalist, setting the stage for what promises to be an intense 2025 NSMQ Grand Finale.–
