The ongoing investigation into the alleged theft of students’ foodstuffs at the Northern School of Business (NOBISCO) has intensified as four key officials are summoned to Accra for further questioning, with auditors currently stationed at the school.
Ongoing Probe into NOBISCO Food Theft Deepens
The investigation into the alleged diversion of foodstuffs meant for students at the Northern School of Business (NOBISCO) has entered a critical phase, as four key officials — the Headmaster, Chief Driver, Bursar, and Storekeeper — have been summoned to Accra for further questioning by higher authorities.
The decision follows revelations that several quantities of food items, including maize and rice, were allegedly diverted from the school’s store to private residences.
Officials to Report in Tamale Before Proceeding to Accra
According to credible sources, the Regional Director of Education, Mr. Alidu Junior, will personally accompany the four officials to Accra. Before their departure, they are expected to report to the Regional Directorate in Tamale on Thursday for preliminary documentation and briefing.
Meanwhile, auditors currently stationed at the school are conducting a thorough audit of the institution’s stores and procurement records to ascertain the extent of the loss and identify possible collaborators.
Security and Administrative Oversight
The Ghana Education Service (GES) Regional Directorate is now fully in charge of the investigation. It has pledged to keep the public informed as the probe progresses, emphasizing its commitment to transparency and accountability in the management of public schools.
The Chief Driver is said to be packing his belongings in preparation to meet the team at the school before the group proceeds to Accra later today.
Background
The case emerged after volunteers intercepted a school vehicle loaded with foodstuffs, allegedly on its way to the bursar’s residence. Subsequent searches revealed additional bags of rice and maize at her home and a nearby property.
The bursar, identified as Madam Fedelia Kudaariwo, later turned herself in to the police after evading initial questioning. Early reports also suggest that she may have been linked to a similar incident in Kumbungu-Pagnaa.
Way Forward
The Regional Education Directorate has assured that disciplinary and legal actions will follow the findings of the ongoing audit and investigations. The GES has reaffirmed its stance against corruption and mismanagement in schools, vowing to ensure justice and restore public trust in the administration of second-cycle institutions.
