NSMQ 2025: GSTS Triumphs Over Nkwatia Presby SHS and Ashaiman SHS to Reach Quarterfinals

 

Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) secured a 50-point victory against Nkwatia Presby SHS and Ashaiman SHS at the SGS Auditorium, advancing to the quarterfinal stage of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).


GSTS Secures a Spot in the NSMQ 2025 Quarterfinals

The Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) has advanced to the quarterfinal stage of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) after a hard-fought victory over Nkwatia Presby SHS and Ashaiman SHS at the SGS Auditorium.

GSTS ended the contest with 50 points, edging out Nkwatia Presby SHS, who followed closely with 45 points, while Ashaiman SHS finished with 28 points.

It was a thrilling contest that showcased determination, intelligence, and composure from all three schools, but GSTS proved slightly stronger in the crucial final rounds.


Round-by-Round Highlights

The contest began evenly in Round One, with GSTS leading with 22 points, followed by Nkwatia Presby SHS with 19 points, and Ashaiman SHS with 9 points.

In the @TrusturAI Speed Race (Round Two), GSTS extended their lead to 30 points, maintaining control over the competition. Nkwatia Presby SHS trailed with 25 points, while Ashaiman SHS remained at 9 points.

The Problem of the Day, proudly sponsored by Prudential Life Insurance Ghana, saw an impressive performance from all three schools. GSTS scored 7/10, while both Nkwatia Presby SHS and Ashaiman SHS scored 6/10 each.

By Round Four, GSTS maintained their lead with 47 points, Nkwatia Presby SHS followed with 36 points, and Ashaiman SHS recorded 28 points.

In the decisive GOIL PLC Riddle Bonanza, GSTS displayed tactical brilliance to finish with 50 points, securing qualification to the quarterfinal stage of the national competition.


A Contest of Close Margins

Although GSTS ultimately prevailed, Nkwatia Presby SHS put up a commendable performance throughout the rounds, narrowing the margin to just five points by the end of the contest. The strong showing from Ashaiman SHS also earned them praise for their resilience and teamwork.


Looking Ahead

GSTS will now prepare for the quarterfinals, where the stakes are higher and the competition fiercer. Their supporters, fondly called The Giants, are hopeful the team will continue their strong run toward the semifinals.

The NSMQ 2025 continues across various venues, including the CNC and AUDITORIUM 900, with schools battling for a place in the grand finale.
