Morning Session Highlights: Abetifi Presby Dominates Early Contest

The third day of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) preliminaries opened with a thrilling contest at the SGS Auditorium, featuring Abetifi Presby SHS, Oti Boateng SHS, and Sefwi Wiawso SHS.

Abetifi Presby SHS led from start to finish, demonstrating composure and conceptual depth in both physics and mathematics rounds. By the end of Round Four, Abetifi Presby had secured 53 points, while Oti Boateng SHS and Sefwi Wiawso SHS followed with 43 and 16 points, respectively.

A strong showing in the @PruLifeGhana Problem of the Day and an assertive final round propelled Abetifi Presby to victory with 56 points, booking a well-deserved place in the one-eighth stage of the competition.


CNC Auditorium: University Practice SHS Shows Class

At the CNC Auditorium, University Practice SHS extended the Central Region’s growing dominance with a decisive win over Ahantaman Girls’ SHS and Mim SHS.

After leading from Round One, University Practice SHS maintained clear control of the contest, closing at 57 points, with Ahantaman Girls’ SHS trailing at 26 points and Mim SHS at 13 points.

Their consistency across the @trustur.ai speed race and @PruLifeGhana rounds earned them a smooth qualification, reinforcing their reputation as one of the region’s most disciplined contenders.


Auditorium 900: Mankranso SHS Secures Comfortable Win

Mankranso SHS continued the Ashanti Region’s impressive form with a composed performance against St. Joseph Seminary SHS and Sekondi College at Auditorium 900.

The contest remained close through the early rounds, but Mankranso’s analytical strength in the final riddle segment secured their lead. The final scores stood at Mankranso SHS – 45 points, St. Joseph Seminary SHS – 38 points, and Sekondi College – 31 points.


CNC Auditorium: Kumasi High School Impresses with 67 Points

The second contest of the CNC Auditorium showcased the power and precision of Kumasi High School (KUHIS). Facing Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Girls’ SHS and St. Mary’s Boys’ SHS, KUHIS displayed speed and accuracy from the first round, eventually finishing with an impressive 67 points.

Their outstanding performance in the @goil_gh Riddle Bonanza earned them a cash reward of GH₵800 and cemented their place among the top scorers of the prelims.


SGS Auditorium: Simms SHS Advances with 36 Points

In another Ashanti Region triumph, Simms SHS overcame Kofi Agyei SHTS and Our Lady of Lourdes Girls’ SHS with 36 points. Though not one of the day’s highest scores, the victory was decisive, marking Simms SHS’s steady rise in NSMQ history.


Auditorium 900: Presby SHS, Suhum Snatches Narrow Win

At Auditorium 900, Presby SHS, Suhum edged past Abomusu STEM SHS in a tight contest, ending with 39 points to 38 points, while Methodist SHTS, Berekum lagged with 19 points.

The Suhum-based school’s narrow win reflected strong tactical play and composure under pressure, keeping the Eastern Region’s qualification hopes alive.


SGS Auditorium: Krobo Girls Shine Bright

Krobo Girls’ Presbyterian SHS delivered one of the most disciplined performances of Day 3, triumphing over St. Francis Xavier Seminary SHS and Business SHS with 59 points.

Despite Xavier winning the @PruLifeGhana Problem of the Day with a perfect score, Krobo Girls’ consistency across all rounds ensured a smooth qualification to the next stage.


CNC Auditorium: T.I. AMASS Kumasi Prevails

At the CNC Auditorium, T.I. AMASS, Kumasi demonstrated tactical brilliance against Adventist SHS, Bantama and Yilo Krobo SHS. The contest saw multiple lead shifts, but AMASS maintained composure to finish with 46 points, followed by Adventist SHS (37) and Yilo Krobo SHS (34).

Their win further strengthens Ashanti Region’s dominant representation heading into the one-eighth stage.


SGS Auditorium: Nkwatia Presby SHS Ends Day in Style

The final contest of Day 3 saw Nkwatia Presby SHS dismantle competition from Serwaa Kesse Girls’ SHS and St. Charles Minor Seminary. With early dominance in the @trustur.ai and @PruLifeGhana rounds, Nkwatia Presby ended with 63 points, far ahead of Serwaa Kesse (19) and St. Charles Minor Seminary (11).

Their victory capped off a day defined by strategic thinking, teamwork, and strong regional representation.
