Some Newly Trained Teachers who were posted to teach in some selected Districts of the Northern Region are calling on Government to pay them their Salary Arrears to be able to contain the COVID-19 financial burdens.
Speaking with EducationGhana‘s Ellis Ferdinand some teachers from the Northern Region, specifically the East Mamprusi District, Bunkparugu district, East Gonjah district and the Yunyoo Nasuan districts have indicated their disappointment in the government.
According to the teachers, they are disappointed in the Government for being reluctant to pay the group of teachers the Ghana Education Service (GES) employed since December 2019.
” Government is putting intervention measures to ease life for citizens. If indeed that is the case why is government and ministry of education reluctant to pay the group of teachers they employed since December 2019 ?”.They asked.

They further argued, their colleagues in the other regions and districts had all their teachers captured in the first and second biometric registrations.
“No single posted teacher in this district has his/her staff ID generated let alone biometric. But our colleagues in other regions and districts have all their teachers captured in the first and second biometric.” They lamented.
