The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) with the support of Ghana Education Service (GES) has begun a Stakeholder Engagement on the National Pre-Tertiary Learning Assessment Framework (NPLAF) to solicit for the views and suggestions of stakeholders for the Assessment framework.
Speaking at the first encounter in Tamale which saw stakeholders from the Northern, Savanah, Upper West, Upper East and North East regions, the Deputy Minister, Hon Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum stated that the new Assessment Framework would provide general guidelines for measuring the progress and achievement of all learners at various grade levels against national standards. This will ensure fairness, accountability and public confidence in the assessment system across the country.
Dr. Prince H Armah, Ag. Executive Secretary of NaCCA also made a presentation on the Assessment framework.
The National Pre-Tertiary Learning Assessment Framework is a document developed to assist the implementation of the standards-based curriculum. It is designed to guide assessment practices in our schools and the education system at large. The NPLAF ensures strong linkages among the curriculum, mode of learning, teaching and assessment at the pre tertiary level.
Assessment at the pre tertiary level will be used to take decisions on remediation, placement, promotion, certification and learner progress.
