The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Adutwum is expected to appear before the parliament of Ghana to answer questions regarding the approval of books by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment  (NaCCA) with bigoted Publications.
The Member of Parliament for the North Tongu Constituency, Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa in a statement on his Facebook wall indicted, that he has filed an urgent parliamentary question requesting the Minister for Education to appear before the House and respond to the two bigoted publications in the issue
Purpose of the Invite
According to him, the purpose of inviting the Minister was to ask the Honourable Minister responsible for Education whether the publications titled: History of Ghana, Text Book 3 by Badu Nkansah Publications authored by Badu Nkansah and Nelly Martinson Anim and Golden English Basic 4 authored by Okyere Baafi Alexander both of which contain bigoted content targeted at the Ewe ethnic group have come to his Ministry’s attention; were they approved by any of his Ministry’s agencies.
The invite further inquires steps the Government is taking to purge schools and book shops from offensive, divisive and incendiary publications of this nature.
The allegations

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has been under public scrutiny for allegedly approving books that seem to malign the Ewe  Ethnic Group in Ghana to an unacceptable description.

The books including Golden Publication’s Golden English for Basic 4 written by Okyere Baah Alexander under a Substrand “PENMANSHIP AND HANDWRITING” seem to suggest that EWEs in Ghana were fond of practicing ”Juju” an African description of Black magic.

The sentence said; “Efo agreed and prepared juju for the players” . This sentence has been described by the general public as bigotry and should not be encouraged.

In another Publication by Badu Nkansah Publications and written by Badu Nkansah and Nelly Mathison Anim, a Basic 3 History textbook purported to have been approved by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment seem to teach the learners a song that is alleged to have misquoted the Ewe identity to the learners.
