JUST IN: Stop Extra Classes or risk indefinite Shut down – Private Schools told

The National School Inspectorate  Authority (NaSIA) formerly the National Inspectorate Board (NIB) has directed all Private Pre-tertiary Education Institutions (PTEIs) across the country to adhere to the President’s directive to open classes for only Form 2 Junior High and Senior High School Students.

The NaSIA in a statement issued an on Tuesday, October 12, 2020,  cautioned  Private schools who have reopened their schools for classes for learners other than second-year students to put a stop to the practice or risk having their schools shut down indefinitely.

According to the statement, the Executive Director of NaSIA, Haggar Hilda Ampadu, indicated, that the board has observed that some private pre-tertiary education institutions have reopened their schools for in-person classes for learners in lower primary to senior high school (other than those in SHS 2 and JHS 2/ International Curricular equivalent).

She further indicated, that such actions breach of the President’s directive on the reopening of schools.

 

The NaSIA said private schools acting in contravention to the President’s directive, including those offering in-person vacation classes (to learners other those in JHS2 and SHS 2/ International Curricular equivalents) should stop their activities with immediate effect.

“Any PTEI that acts contrary to the President’s directive will be made to shut down indefinitely”, it warned.

Parents

The National School Inspectorate  Authority also cautioned parents of not sending their wards who are not in JSS 2 or SHS 2 (or International Curricular equivalent) to school, until otherwise indicated by the President.

Public Vigilance

The general public has been informed to be vigilant and report any private school breaching the President’s directive to NSIA for the necessary action to be taken.
