The District Director of Education at the Kwahu Afram Plains South Education Directorate has withdrawn his earlier directive regarding the withdrawal of Teachers from the Senior High Schools.
Mr. Edwin Ofosu Kwakye,in a letter dated July 17,2019 stated emphatically that his earlier letter ,dated April 15,2019 on the withdrawal of Teachers with Sandwich and Distance Certificates from the SHS was wrongly captioned.
He said, his letter was targeted at holders of Early Childhood and Basic Education Certificate holders and not all teachers who had first degree through Sandwich and Distance Education.

The Genesis
The Kwahu Afram Plains South Education Directorate on April 5,2019 sent a directive to all Senior High Schools in the district asking the heads of the schools to submit names of teachers who obtained their degrees through Distance and Sandwich Education.
The purpose of the directive was to repost such teachers to the basic schools.
According to the letter, the directive was in compliance with a directive from the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service on the need not to allow teachers with degrees from Sandwich and Distance Education to teach at the Senior High Schools.
”Following Directives from the Director -General, all teachers who obtained their degrees through Distance,Sandwich and Foundation Programmes and are teaching in the Senior High Schools are to be withdrawn and re-posted to the basic schools”the letter said.
Effects
The letter ,which was sent to heads for urgent compliance on April 15,2019 simply implies some teachers might have been sacked illegally.
A letter from the Sandwich Executives to the GES on the subject matter calls for an urgent response from the GES on the matter since it has affected some teachers .
