Form 2 Junior High School students of the Wenchiki DA Junior High School in the North-East Region have been prevented from having access to their classroom by the contractor of the school bloc over nonpayment of work done.
The incident according to reports, happened on Monday, October 12, 2020.

The debt
According to the contractor, though the School was said to have been completed in 2016, the District Assembly owed him over a GH¢100,000
He indicated, that continuos appeals to the authorities which yielded no result eventually led to the shutdown of the school.
According to a JoyNews’ Nort-East Regional correspondent, Eliasu Tanko, the contractor on Monday sacked student from their various classrooms whiles classes was ongoing.

Students were seen stranded in the environs of the school premises after he locked up the classrooms.
Eliasu Tanko stated that the District Chief Executive of the area, Abdul Razak confirmed the current happenings.
He, however, assured that the contractor will be paid within this week, so the contractor has agreed to open up the school for public use.
