On 9 April 2025, during his first engagement with the Conference of Heads of Government‑Assisted Senior High Schools (CHASS) at Sunyani Technical University, Education Minister Hon. Haruna Iddrisu announced that Ghana’s double‑track system will be fully phased out by 2027. Addressing principals and educational leaders, he emphasized that ending the split‑semester model is central to improving teaching quality and student experience.
Infrastructure Expansion Plans
To meet the 2027 deadline, the Ministry of Education will accelerate the construction of new classroom blocks, dormitories, and dining facilities. Iddrisu noted that partnerships with both domestic contractors and international donors are already underway to ensure that every school can host a single cohort per academic term.
