The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has officially approved the University of Ghana fees for the 2025/2026 academic year, maintaining the Academic Facility User Fee at its previous level.

The approval, announced on Monday, 12 January 2026, follows public discussions and concerns surrounding fee increments at the University of Ghana. The statement was signed by the Director-General of GTEC, Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai.

GTEC Maintains Academic Facility User Fee

According to GTEC, the Academic Facility User Fee for the University of Ghana will remain unchanged from the 2024/2025 academic year, meaning students will not experience any increase under this category.

The Commission explained that the decision was taken to ease financial pressure on students while ensuring stability and consistency in fee administration across public universities.

Approved University of Ghana Fees and Levies

Under the approved fee structure, students of the University of Ghana will pay the following levies for the 2025/2026 academic year:

SRC Dues: GH₵50

SRC Development Levy: GH₵150

GRASAG Development Levy: GH₵250

Telecel Broadband Levy: GH₵122 (applicable to all undergraduate students, including freshmen)

In addition, GTEC approved a one-off 75th Anniversary Levy of GH₵100, which will apply only to the 2025/2026 academic year and will not be extended beyond that period.
