Gov’t submits Bill to Parliament to extend Basic Education to the Senior High School Level

Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service has submitted a Bill to Parliament to extend Basic Education to the Senior High Schools.

Parliament is expected to pass the Bill into an Act to make the recommendation a reality,the Director General of the Ghana Education Service indicated.

The Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) Prof. Kwesi Opoku Amankwa made this known on United Television on Friday,September 13,2019.

Explaining the motive for extending Basic Education to the Senior High School level,the Director General said it shall be a progression from the Junior High Schools.

Referencing progression from Basic 6 to the Junior High School,Prof. Amankwa said most of the learners might not be matured enough to work after Junior High School Education.

”In that regard, there was the need for the learners to complete their Senior High School Education to be able to get jobs” He said.
