Ghanaian writer Tryphena Yeboah has been shortlisted for the 2024 Caine Prize for African Writing. Recently completing her Ph.D., she now serves as an Assistant Professor and Director of Creative Writing at Tennessee Wesleyan University.


 

Tryphena Yeboah, a talented Ghanaian writer and Ph.D. graduate from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln (UNL), has been shortlisted for the prestigious 2024 Caine Prize for African Writing. This recognition marks a significant milestone in her literary career and shines a spotlight on the rich talent emerging from Ghana.

Tryphena, who is also an alumnus of the Ghana Institute of Journalism, has specialized in Creative Writing, honing her skills at UNL. Her selection for the Caine Prize not only highlights her exceptional storytelling abilities but also underscores the growing influence of African writers on the global stage.

Adding to this remarkable achievement is the fact that Uche Okonkwo, a Nigerian writer who shares the shortlist, is also a student at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and Tryphena’s apartment mate.
