GES Launches Nationwide GALOP Inspection Across Basic Schools

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has declared the commencement of a major nationwide inspection exercise targeting 1,000 basic schools under the Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP). The inspection, which spans from June 23 to July 18, 2025, will take place in all 16 regions of the country, as stated in a circular from the GES Headquarters in Accra.

In the directive signed by Dr. Munawaru Issahaque, Acting Deputy Director-General (Q&A), the GES emphasized the need for regular, data-driven inspections to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of the GALOP initiative.

What Will Be Measured

According to the GES, the following key performance areas will be assessed by the National School Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA) during the inspections:

  • Schools rated “good” or “outstanding” under inspection standards
  • National teacher attendance rates
  • Pupil attendance rates
  • Teacher-to-pupil ratios
  • Quality of school infrastructure
