Ghana Education Service Announces Rescheduled Reopening Date for Single Track Schools
In an official communication dated March 27, 2025, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced a new reopening date for all Single Track Senior High Schools across the country. This change comes as part of the management’s efforts to ensure a smooth academic year for students and staff alike.
Rescheduled Reopening Date:
- The reopening date for all Single Track Senior High and Technical Schools has been officially moved to April 23, 2025. Previously scheduled for an earlier date, this rescheduling aims to allow enough time for proper preparations and ensure the safety of students as they return to school after the holidays.
Important Directives:
The announcement was made by the Director of Schools and Instructions Division, Mr. Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, in a letter to all Regional Directors of Education across Ghana.
- Regional Directors are instructed to notify all Heads of Single Track Senior High and Senior High Technical Schools in their respective regions to inform students, parents, and guardians about the new reopening date.
Key Instructions for Schools:
- Schools are expected to take note of the new reopening date and prepare accordingly, ensuring that students are properly informed and can return on time for a successful academic year.
Why the Change?
While the specific reasons for the rescheduled date were not outlined, such changes typically allow schools to manage logistics, facilitate the smooth transition between academic periods, and ensure a safe environment for all students.
A Step Towards Smooth Academic Operations:
The Ghana Education Service continues to monitor the progress and challenges faced by the education sector, particularly concerning the Single Track School system. This system has been instrumental in addressing overcrowding in schools, allowing for a more effective and sustainable learning environment.
Looking Forward:
As we approach the new reopening date for Single Track Schools, the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service encourage all students and parents to stay updated on any further announcements and instructions.
