GCB donates GHc20,000 to support 2019 Ghana Teachers Prize

GCB Bank Ltd has donated Ghc20,000 to support the 2019 edition of the prestigious Ghana Teacher Prize.

The cheque was presented by the Accra Regional Manager, Mr Justice Gaveh and the Boundary Road Manager of the Bank, Mr Joshua Antwi at the inauguration of the 2019 awards in Accra.

Mr Emmanuel Kojo Kwarteng, Deputy Head of Corporate Affairs Department of GCB Bank , said GCB has prioritized education in its CSR programmes.

He said the Bank in the past five years has constructed six classroom blocks for Fawoman, Bomaa and Sawuah in the Ashanti, Bono East and Eastern regions.

The Launch

The National Teaching Council has Launched the 2019 edition of the Ghana Teacher Prize (GTP),formerly National Best Teachers’ Awards at the GNAT Hall in Accra.

The prestigious Award which seeks to enhance the efficiency of Ghanaian Teachers and motivate their hard work was launched on Wednesday,August 21,2019.

The event will be preceded by a two-day educational conference aimed at disseminating research findings and exhibitions to expose participants to innovative approaches and best practices that support the teacher to become effective towards higher learner outcome.

The main event shall be held at the Paa Joe Stadium at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, on October 5,2019.

Sponsors

The sponsors of this year’s ceremony include Prudential Bank Ltd, which donated a double-cabin 4×4 pickup, GLICO Pension, which is providing a saloon car for the second runner-up, while Databank will also provide a saloon car.

Other sponsors are SIC Life Company Ltd, the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT), EPP Bookshop and VIDYA Bookstore.
