Education Minister Inaugurates CTVET and Ghana Library Authority Boards, Vows TVET Fund and Library Reforms



Education Minister Hon. Haruna Iddrisu has inaugurated governing boards for CTVET and the Ghana Library Authority, pledging TVET funding and transformative library reforms.


Haruna Iddrisu Inaugurates CTVET, Ghana Library Authority Boards with Bold Mandates

The Minister for Education, Honourable Haruna Iddrisu, has officially inaugurated the governing boards of the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) and the Ghana Library Authority, outlining key policy directions to drive national transformation through education.

The CTVET Board will be chaired by Nii Doodo Dodoo, while the Ghana Library Authority Board will be led by Dr. Michael Ato Essuman.


TVET to Receive Dedicated Funding Support

Addressing the new CTVET Board, the Minister emphasized the urgent need to enhance the quality of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Ghana. He urged the board to reposition TVET to equip young Ghanaians with employable skills in line with global demands.

Hon. Iddrisu also announced plans for the establishment of a dedicated TVET Fund, assuring the board of his full commitment to supporting its operations and long-term sustainability.

Ghana Library Authority to Pioneer Modern Reforms

In a separate charge to the Ghana Library Authority, the Minister called for a comprehensive transformation of the national library system to meet the challenges of the modern era. He tasked the board with:

  • Establishing Presidential Libraries to honour former Presidents of Ghana
  • Building community libraries in underserved and rural areas
  • Strengthening STEM education through targeted library programs
  • Promoting a national reading culture
  • Advancing digital literacy to make libraries innovation hubs
