The Ghana Education Service has directed the Headmaster of Dzodze-Penyi SHS to step aside over alleged misconduct involving students, pending an urgent investigation. The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed the headmaster of Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School, Mr Joshua Vidzro, to step aside with immediate effect following allegations of misconduct involving female students. The directive was issued through the Volta Regional Education Office on 6 December 2025, under the authority of the Director-General, Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis.GES initiates an urgent investigation
According to the official letter, the decision was taken to allow for an independent and uninterrupted investigation into the allegations, which the Service described as serious and requiring immediate attention.GES stated that the temporary withdrawal of the headmaster from duty is necessary to protect the integrity of the investigative process and prevent any potential interference.Handover and restrictions
Mr. Vidzro has been instructed to hand over all official records, assets, and responsibilities of the school to the Municipal Director of Education for Ketu North. He is also required to vacate the school premises by Monday, 8 December 2025.The directive further requires him to remain available for all investigative procedures while refraining from any form of contact with the students involved or potential witnesses. Not a declaration of guilt
GES clarified that the directive does not amount to a determination of guilt. Instead, it is an administrative measure taken to uphold due process, protect students, and ensure institutional accountability.Interim management
The Municipal Director of Education for Ketu North has been tasked to assume full administrative and managerial oversight of Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School until the investigation concludes and further instructions are issued.Growing concerns over student safety
The development has renewed public concern about professional conduct, safeguarding protocols, and the protection of students in second-cycle institutions. Education stakeholders continue to call for stronger oversight mechanisms and swift action whenever allegations of this nature emerge.Related Links
