“The service year commences September but most students have not completed school yet and our process is that a student cannot start national service whiles in school, you are supposed to be a graduate to be eligible,” she noted.

The NSS official furthered “most schools have started completing, some are still writing examinations and some are about to do their graduation so when the processes are done Service Scheme will start what we always do.”

According to Madam Gifty, the NSS has engaged stakeholders in the education sector to ensure the delay does not affect the over 120,000 students who have registered to undertake the one-year mandatory service to the nation.
