Ghanaians clear abandoned E-Block sites ahead of John Mahama’s 2025 inauguration. Learn how communities are reviving Mahama’s transformational education projects.
Ghanaians in areas where John Mahama’s E-Blocks were abandoned have begun clearing the sites in anticipation of the projects’ revival following his reelection as the President of the Republic of Ghana.
This grassroots initiative, described as a communal effort to “reset Ghana”, was highlighted in a Facebook post by Ellis Ferdinand, a renowned Ghanaian education blogger, curriculum specialist, and researcher.
Ferdinand shared a photo showcasing residents actively engaging in clearing one of the sites, emphasizing the determination of citizens to revive the transformational education projects initiated during Mahama’s previous tenure.
“This is more than communal labour; it’s a commitment to resettling Ghana and ensuring no child is left behind in education,” Ferdinand wrote.
John Mahama’s Vision for Education
During his presidency from 2012 to 2017, John Mahama spearheaded the E-Block Community Day Senior High Schools project, aimed at expanding access to quality secondary education across the country. However, many of the projects stalled after his government left office, leading to their abandonment under subsequent administrations.
Mahama has reiterated his commitment to completing these projects as part of his broader agenda to transform Ghana’s educational sector.

Preparations for Mahama’s Inauguration
The President-elect is scheduled to be inaugurated on January 7, 2025, as the 6th President of the 4th Republic of Ghana. His return to power has sparked hope among Ghanaians, especially in underserved communities, for the resumption of halted developmental projects.
Public Reactions
Social media platforms have been flooded with messages of support for the communal labour initiatives. Many see the actions of these communities as a reflection of their trust in Mahama’s leadership and his vision to prioritize education and national development.
As Ghana prepares for the incoming administration, the revival of the E-Block projects serves as a testament to the resilience of Ghanaians and their dedication to fostering progress through collective effort.
