AUGUSCO’s ‘Newton’ won a Presidential Award at his BECE before winning an NSMQ Trophy

Jimmy Stephen Johnson of St. Augustine’s College who won the heart of many at the just ended National Science and Maths Quiz,started his ‘academic championship’ since his days at the Junior High School.

Three years ago, Jimmy  won the Presidential award for being outstanding in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE}.

In Ghana, the President awards students who perform incredibly well in the  Basic Education Certificate Examination.

Moving on,with his academic laurels,  he led his school to win the National Science & Maths Quiz Competition in 2019.

The NSMQ Competition

On 11th July 2019, Jimmy Stephen Johnson of St. Augustine’s College made every Ghanaian astounded by his sterling performance at this year’s National Science And Maths Quiz.

Maino Joseph Afful Kwaku, Elliason and Jimmy Stephen Newton represented as the contestants for St. Augustine’s College.

The grand finale of 2019 National Science & Maths Quiz took off today at the National Theatre, in Accra Ghana.

The much-anticipated contest was between St. Augustine’s College (Augusco), St. Peter’s Senior High School (Persco), and Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (Presec) finally saw one of the big guns come out as the ultimate winner.

St. Augustine’s College‘s team, made up of Newton Jimmy Stephen, Maino Afful Joseph Kwaku, and Elliason came out as grand winners of the year’s National Science & Maths Quiz competition, beating Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School as the 1st runner-up and St. Peter’s Was Senior High School at 2nd runner-up.

Jimmy Stephen Newton after the Quiz won the hearts of many Ghanaians, sake of that he has been nicknamed “Newton” on social media by Ghanaians.
