The Department of Graphic Design at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) is now accepting applications for the Bachelor of Fine Art in Animation (BFA) program for the 2023 academic year.

The BFA in Animation is a 4-year program that will teach students the skills they need to create and produce animated films, television shows, and other digital media. Students will learn about animation principles, character design, storyboarding, and the use of animation software.

To be eligible for admission, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Have WASSCE or SSSCE with credit passes (A1-C6) in six (6) subjects, comprising the three core subjects: English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science (or Social Studies); and at least a grade C6 in any (3) three electives in Visual Arts, Science, or General Arts.
• Have a diploma in Graphic Design from a recognized university with a CGPA of 2.50 or higher.
• Be at least 25 years old by August of the academic year of admission.
• Pass the General Aptitude Test (GAT) and Subject Area Test (SAT) administered by UEW.

Entry Requirements Simplified

Prospective candidates eyeing the Bachelor of Fine Art in Animation program need to meet specific entry requirements falling into the following categories:

(a) For Direct candidates, having either SSSCE or WASSCE qualifications are the key. SSSCE holders require (A – D) grades in six subjects, including English, Math, Integrated Science or Social Studies, along with at least a Grade C in three electives within Visual Arts, Science, or General Arts.

WASSCE applicants must obtain Credit Passes (A1 – C6) in six subjects, including the core trio, and a Grade ‘C6’ in three electives within Visual Arts, Science, or General Arts.

(b) Diploma in Graphic Design Holders are eligible with at least a 2-year diploma course in Graphic Design from the University of Education, Winneba, or any NAB-recognized university, with a minimum CGPA of 2.50.

A 3-year diploma from a Polytechnic or accredited institution, along with a credit or better grade, is also accepted. A successful selection interview will determine entry level (level 200 or level 300) based on interview performance.

(c) For Mature candidates, the age requirement is at least 25 years by August of the academic year of admission. Passing a General Aptitude Test (GAT) and a Subject Area Test (SAT), both administered by the University, are necessary steps.
