Apply now for the School Farm Competition 2024 organized by KOSMOS INNOVATION CENTER. Open to JHS and SHS schools in Ghana, this competition promotes agricultural practices and sustainability. Deadline: February 29, 2024.


The KOSMOS INNOVATION CENTER, in collaboration with its partners, is excited to announce the opening of applications for the School Farm Competition 2024. The competition is open to both private and public Junior High Schools (JHS) and Senior High Schools (SHS) across all regions of Ghana.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the competition, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a junior high or senior high school.
  • Must have access to land or any other planting medium.
  • Must have a minimum land or planting medium size of 50m by 50m or more.
  • Must have an accessible, reliable, safe, and permanent source of water.

How to Apply

Interested schools must fill out and submit the application form online via this link by February 29, 2024.

Selection Process

Schools will be selected based on the strength of their answers in the application form. Selected schools will be required to:

  • Demarcate an area of land.
  • Grow a selected crop.
  • Keep a diary and photographs to record progress.
  • Develop a business plan to sustain the farm throughout the competition.

Assessment Criteria

The assessment team will visit selected schools periodically to provide support and evaluate performance based on:

  • Evidence of good agricultural practices.
  • Evidence of learning by the students.
  • Evidence of student involvement.
  • Evidence of engagement with the local community.
  • Evidence of biodiversity protection and an understanding of its importance.
  • Evidence of a viable sustainability plan.

Awards Ceremony

An awards ceremony will be held at the end of the year (usually the end of November), where the winners will be announced.
