EducationGhana, November 3, #BawumiaSpeaks: The vice president of the Republic of Gnana, Dr Mahamaoudou Bawumnia has said that the government has provided 350,000 teachers with laptops under the one teacher one laptop policy.
The vice president made this statement at an event dubbed #BawumiaSpeaks held at the Main Auditorium of the Ashesi University on Tuesday, November 2, 2021.

The event which was organized on the theme ”Transforming an Economy through Digitization-The Ghana Story” saw the vice president touch on the government’s achievements through digitization of the Ghanaian Economy.
”We have also provided 350,000 teachers with laptops under the one teacher one laptop policy” He indicated.

Lesson Notes
Dr Bawumia said teachers shall no longer write lesson notes into books but shall be using the soft copies download onto their laptops.
”For teachers, the writing of lesson notes into notebooks, apart from being stressful, is a time-consuming activity. With the curriculum materials already installed onto the laptops, the suggested lesson notes can be downloaded onto the laptops to end the burdensome task of writing lesson notes.” He said.

Background
The government has initiated a move with KA Technologies to provide teachers at the pre-tertiary education level with laptops to aid their works.
Though the exact cost of the laptop was a contradiction amongst teacher unions and the government, the government, that cost has been quoted to have been shared between government and the teachers in a 70% and 30% fraction with the government paying the highest percentage.
