2020NDC Manifesto: NDC Gov’t to establish Cocoa College in the Western North Region

Mahama Pledges 20% Allowance for Teachers and Free SHS Policy Review if Elected in 2024

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said when given the opportunity to run the affairs of the country again, in the December 2020 polls, it shall establish another Cocoa College in the Western North Region.

The NDC said the purpose of establishing a Cocoa College was for the training of cocoa farmers and extension officers in the Western, Western North, Bono, Ahafo and
the western part of Ashanti regions.

”The next NDC Government will establish another Cocoa College in the Western North Region for the training of cocoa farmers and extension officers in the Western, Western North, Bono, Ahafo and the western part of Ashanti regions.”  The party said.

The Bunso Cocoa College will take care of cocoa farmers and extension officers in Eastern, Central, Volta and the remaining parts of Ashanti Region.

Child Educational Support Programme

The Party also said it shall resume the Child Educational Support Programme to eliminate the
worst forms of child labour in cocoa-growing regions.

”The next NDC Government will resume the Child Educational Support Programme to eliminate the worst forms of child labour in cocoa-growing regions.”

 Provision of Social Amenities

According to the NDC’s ‘The People’s Manifesto’,  COCOBOD will support the Electricity Corporation of Ghana to provide electricity to cocoa-growing communities that are not connected to the National Grid

The party also said the COCOBOD shall support the provision of boreholes and small water systems in cocoa-growing communities that have no access to potable drinking water.

In addition, the COCOBOD shall rehabilitate their over-aged cocoa farms, and farms that have been destroyed by the cocoa swollen shoot virus disease.

Programme to effectively tackle Fall Army Worms

The next NDC Government will resume a programme to effectively tackle the fall armyworms invasion of cocoa farms.
