Cape Coast shooting incident; one suspect arrested

Police intelligence has led to the arrest of one suspect in relation to the murder of Mr. Yaw Ayifah Gorman alias Dr. Sting in Cape Coast on Saturday.

The Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ms. Irene Oppong said the suspect is in custody assisting with investigations.

Mr. Gorman was brutally shot in the head on Saturday at about 7.40 pm in his car in front of his house opposite the UCC Medical School hostel after returning home from a census training session.

The death of Dr Sting has gotten many in Cape Coast worried and talking especially on social media considering the fact that the metropolis rarely records such gruesome crimes.

They have variously called on the police to expedite investigations to bring the perpetrator (s) of the heinous crime to book.

Dr Sting who was said to be part of the enumerators being trained for the census exercise was shoot death in his car before he could have the opportunity to get down out his car after he returned home from a training session.

DSP Oppong said information gathered at the scene of the crime by police indicated that the deceased Gorman, returned to his residence in his BMW saloon car with registration number CR 811-W, but as soon as he stopped the car in front of his house, he was shot through the driver’s side window of the car by an unknown assailant(s) and wounded him in the left eye.
