Wesley Girls’ High School emerged victorious in a thrilling Quarter-final contest at the SGS Auditorium, advancing to the Semi-final Stage of the 2024 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ).

The atmosphere was electrifying, with Wesley Girls’ supporters creating a lively environment with their spirited songs, inspiring the home team to put on an outstanding performance.

From the start, Wesley Girls’ demonstrated their dominance, finishing Round One in the lead with 24 points, while St. Peter’s SHS and Mawuli School trailed with 22 and 16 points, respectively. In Round Two, St. Peter’s SHS gained momentum, showing impressive speed and accuracy in the Prudential Life Insurance Speed Race and securing the top spot with 31 points. Wesley Girls’ maintained their competitiveness with 20 points, and Mawuli School fell behind with 13 points.

Round Three, the Problem of the Day, posed a challenging physics question, and each school made attempts to tackle it. Wesley Girls’ came out on top with five points, while Mawuli School and St. Peter’s SHS earned four and three points, respectively.

In Round Four, sponsored by Jupay Money Transfer, Wesley Girls’ answered six questions correctly, pushing their lead to 44 points. St. Peter’s followed with 41 points, and Mawuli School lagged with 24 points.

The contest reached its climax during the final Goil Riddle Bonanza. St. Peter’s SHS momentarily surpassed Wesley Girls’ in the race for the Semi-final slot, creating a tense atmosphere. However, a crucial final answer from Wesley Girls’ student Dede sealed their victory, earning them 51 points and a place in the Semi-finals. St. Peter’s finished with 48 points, while Mawuli School concluded with 24 points.
