A group of Senior High School students from the Volta Region was involved in a road crash at Sokode Tsawenu on their way to a national sports competition in Accra. No fatalities were reported, though some sustained injuries.
Volta SHS Students Survive Road Accident
A sports delegation made up of Senior High School students from the Volta Region was involved in a road accident over the weekend at Sokode Tsawenu, near Ho, while traveling to Accra for a national sports competition.
No Fatalities, Some Injured
Though the accident caused injuries to several members of the delegation, no lives were lost. Emergency services responded swiftly, and the injured were transported to the Ho Teaching Hospital for treatment.
PE Coordinator Undergoes Surgery
Among the injured was the Volta Regional Physical Education Coordinator, Mr. Roger Kwaku Tay, who sustained a fractured arm. He has since undergone successful surgery, including the insertion of an implant.
Regional Minister Visits Victims
The Volta Regional Minister, accompanied by the Regional Education Director and Assistant Director, visited Mr. Tay at the hospital to express well wishes. The delegation presented a cash donation to support his recovery.
Financial Support to Other Patients
In a further show of goodwill, the Minister extended support to seven other patients in the same ward, donating GH₵1,000 each to assist with their medical expenses.
Prayers for the Injured
Authorities have expressed gratitude for the safety of the students and staff involved, and the public is urged to keep the injured in their thoughts and prayers as they recover.
