Some parents are questioning the decision of President Akuffo Addo to pay the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) registration fee for candidates.
According to the parents, their children were billed to pay the 2020 WASSCE registration fee before the commencement of the COVID-19 Lockdown in some parts of the country.
In a video circulating on Social media after the announcement of the decision by President Akuffo Addo, the parents said their children were left with some few weeks to write their WASSCE before the lockdown and do not know the kind of registration fees that the president talked about.

President’s comment
The government said it will absorb the examination fees of all 313,837 WASSCE 2020 candidates.
President Akuffo Addo said that Government shall absorb all fees for the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE ) Candidates.
President Nana Akufo-Addo made this known on Sunday night during his 12th address to the nation on the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the president, an amount Ghc 75.4 million will be spent on the payment of the fees for the students.

Akuffo Addo Graduates
The president said the graduates will be known as “Akufo-Addo graduates”
He pointed out the importance of education to the future of Ghana, saying the government is determined to protect the lives of Akufo-Addo graduates and the teaching staff and non-teaching staff.
