Ferdinand EducationGhana | December 06 | UPSA Encourages WASSCE Applicants With D7 to Apply for Diploma Programmes

UPSA has opened its doors to WASSCE applicants with D7 in core or elective subjects, offering them a pathway through its two-year diploma programmes and a direct top-up to a bachelor’s degree.

UPSA Opens Admission Opportunity for Applicants With D7

The University of Professional Studies, Accra, has announced that WASSCE applicants who obtained D7 in any core or elective subject are eligible to apply for its diploma programs. The university noted that the diploma track offers an alternative pathway for students who fall short of the traditional degree cut-off requirements. The decision provides a clearer route for applicants who wish to pursue tertiary education despite marginal grades in one or more subjects.

Two-Year Diploma Leads to Direct Degree Top-Up

UPSA has reaffirmed that successful diploma graduates may progress directly into its two-year top-up degree programmes. This means students can complete both the diploma and the bachelor’s degree in a total of four years, matching the duration of a regular undergraduate programme.University officials have highlighted this pathway as a practical opportunity for students seeking advancement without losing years due to grade limitations.

Strong Interest Expected From Applicants

With the 2025 admissions still ongoing, UPSA expects a high volume of applications through the diploma stream. Prospective students have been encouraged to submit their forms early and ensure that all supporting documents are uploaded correctly. The diploma route remains one of the most accessible entry points for applicants who wish to gain professional qualifications in business, management, communication, and related fields.
