UG: Electoral Commission of Elizabeth Frances Sey Hall JCR Resigns

All members of the Electoral Commission of the Junior Common Room of the Elizabeth Frances Sey Hall have announced their resignation from office.

This comes barely a day after the Students Representative Council Judicial Board delivered a landmark ruling favouring one Wisdom Ndukwe, an aspirant in the forthcoming Sey JCR election.

“I wish to officially inform you that the Electoral Commission following the ruling of the SRC Judicial Board and the consideration of other factors has decided to resign from our duties and roles effective today,” the introduction of the letter reads

The ruling allows Wisdom Ndukwe to submit his forms and contest in the elections even though he brought it after the deadline because of some dramatic happenings that took place barely two hours to the EC’s deadline.

In the letter, the members of the Electoral Commission were disappointed that although they served the hall in good faith, it did not receive enough commendation for their work.

“As the Electoral Commission of Elizabeth Frances Sey Hall, we served with honor, stood by our virtues and applied discipline, diligence and impartiality to our work. We treated you all equally and dealt with you in a manner which reflects fairness and impartiality. However, it appears to us that, our good efforts were not commendable enough and was faced by strict opposition hence our resignation,” they stated

They also disclosed that they have already submitted all necessary documents pertaining to the forthcoming election to the JCR President.
