U/E: Teachers charged Ghc60.00 for training on New Standard -Based Curriculum

The Ghana Education Service has charged Teachers Ghc 60.00 each for training on the New Standard -Based Curriculum for Basic Schools.

The affected teachers are those in the Upper East region.

The curriculum sensitization program has been organized by the Ghana Education Service (GES) in collaboration with the  National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA).

This information was contained in a circular issued by the Upper East Regional Director of Education to all Municipal/District directors of education,

The letter emphasized that  each participant will pay an amount of sixty Ghana cedis(Ghc 60.00) for cost of materials and certificates of participation”.

Some headteachers rejected the directive, saying the government should bear the cost of the capacity building on the new curriculum.

Some teachers also show their dissatisfaction on the new development, showing their unwillingness to pay.

The Bolgatanga municipal education directorate has however directed all teachers in the municipality to register for the exercise.

According to the directorate ,the certificates shall aid in their promotions.
