St. Augustine’s College emerged victorious in a thrilling 2024 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) Quarter-final contest at the SGS Auditorium, scoring an impressive 56 points to secure a place in the Semi-finals. The “Rosary Battle,” as it was nicknamed, pitted three Catholic institutions against each other: St. Hubert Seminary SHS and Bishop Herman College, who finished with 42 and 35 points respectively.
The Augustinians came prepared, backed by a fervent crowd of supporters who cheered them on throughout the contest. Right from Round One, they took the lead with 25 points, edging out their rivals.
As the competition progressed, they maintained their momentum in the Prudential Life Insurance Speed Race, extending their lead to 34 points, while St. Hubert Seminary SHS followed closely with 27 points, and Bishop Herman College trailed with 18 points.
A Close Contest in the Problem of the Day Round
The chemistry-themed “Problem of the Day” kept all three schools neck-and-neck, with each team scoring equally and allowing St. Augustine’s to maintain their lead. The excitement in the auditorium was palpable, as the crowd anticipated a close finish.
Dominance in the Jupay Money Transfer Round
St. Augustine’s College demonstrated their superiority in the Jupay Money Transfer True/False round, answering every question correctly to soar to 53 points. With the final round on the horizon, the Augustinians were poised for victory.
Securing Victory in the GOIL Super Bonanza Round
In the GOIL Super Bonanza round, St. Augustine’s College sealed their victory with a correct riddle answer, bringing their total to 56 points. Despite a spirited effort, Bishop Herman College was awarded the GOIL Super Bonanza Award for two successful riddle answers.
