The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released a revised academic calendar for Public Basic Schools in Ghana, including Kindergarten, Primary and Junior High Schools for the 2023/2024 academic year.

 

1st term reopening

According to the calendar, January 10 was the reopening date for JHS, Primary and KG students and teachers in the public basic schools in Ghana.

1st term vacation

Teachers and students are expected to spend a little over 2 months in school until school breaks on March 24, 2023. to April 2, 2023.

Teachers and students ARE EXPECTED to stay home for just 9 days as their vacation period.

 

2nd term reopening

Academic activities for the 2nd term of the 2023/2024 academic year will commence on April 3 and till June 15.

This translates into over 2 and a weeks in school just like the 1st term.

2nd term vacation

The vacation date for 2nd term is slated for June 16 to June 26 for all teachers and students in the public basic schools in the country.

Just like the 1st term vacation, teachers and students at the JHS, Primary and KG will spend a very short vacation at home; 10 days.

3rd term reopening & vacation

3rd term for the 2023/2024 academic year begins on June 27 to September 14 when the school will vacate again in hopes for the next academic year calendar.

BECE

The Basic Education Certificate Examination will be conducted by the West African Examinations Council in the months of September/October 2023 for JHS 3  students.
