Pentecost University Professor Appointed Chairman, Board of Trustees of National Cathedral Project
Apostle Prof. OPOKU Onyinah, a member of faculty of Pentecost University is the new Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the National Cathedral project. His appointment was announced by the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo on Monday 8th February 2021 at the Jubilee House in Accra.
According to the President, Prof. Onyinah is a worthy choice to replace the deceased Chairman of the Board, Rev. Samuel Antwi. He, therefore, expressed confidence in the Pentecost University Professor to supervise a successful completion of the National Cathedral Project.
Commenting on his appointment, the renowned theologian and Christian leader thanked the president for the confidence reposed in him and other trustees. He assured the president and all stakeholders that the team will put in their best effort to complete the project within schedule.

In his remark, the Vice-Chancellor of Pentecost University, Prof. Kwabena Agyapong- Kodua congratulated his predecessor on the appointment. He expressed confidence that Prof. Onyinah will execute his task with excellence. He said “considering the work Prof did at Pentecost University when he was Rector and The Church of Pentecost as Chairman, it’s convincing that he will execute this new mandate with excellence.”
Prof. Onyinah was rector of Pentecost University (2003-2008) and became Chancellor when he assumed office as Chairman of The Church of Pentecost between 2008 and 2018.
This latest appointment adds to the incredible number of high profile portfolios he serves outside The Church of Pentecost.
Among many others, he is currently the President of the Bible Society of Ghana, President, Christian Unity Commission of the Pentecostal World Fellowship; Co-chair, Africa Pentecostal Mission Fellowship; Co-chair, Empowered21 Global Scholars Consultation among others.
He also served as President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Member of the National Peace Council, and many others.

He holds a PhD in Theology from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom (UK).
