A tragic incident at Offinso Namong SHS has left the school community in grief as a second-year student, Pascaline, lost her life following a domestic confrontation involving her father and boyfriend.

Student’s Exeat Turns Tragic

A heartbreaking incident has struck the Offinso Namong Senior High School community in the Ashanti Region, following the sudden passing of a second-year female student identified as Pascaline.

Reports indicate that Pascaline had signed an exeat to leave school on the day of the incident. However, instead of returning home, she visited her boyfriend’s house.

Father’s Confrontation

Her father, who later visited the school and learned that she had not returned home, traced her to the boyfriend’s residence. A confrontation ensued when the father demanded answers.

In the course of the heated exchange, Pascaline reportedly threatened to harm herself if her father and others did not leave the boy alone. Tragically, she carried out the threat and lost her life.

Shock and Grief in the Community

The development has thrown the entire school and community into mourning. Teachers, students, and residents have expressed shock at the loss of a young life under such circumstances.

As of now, the Ghana Education Service (GES) and school authorities have not issued an official statement on the matter.

Call for Counselling and Awareness

The incident raises critical concerns about adolescent counselling, parental engagement, and the need for stronger emotional and psychological support systems within schools. Education stakeholders are calling for urgent interventions to prevent similar tragedies.
