Nursing Training College Wa secures accreditation to offer BSc Nursing degrees, set to admit the first batch in 2025, targeting NAC and RGN diploma holders.

The Nursing Training College (NTC) in Wa is set to begin awarding Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees in Nursing following successful accreditation from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana.

This significant milestone positions the institution as one of the few public nursing colleges in Ghana transitioning into full-fledged degree-awarding status.

First Admissions Target NAC and RGN Holders

According to college authorities, first admissions are scheduled for the 2025/2026 academic year, and the programme is tailored for Nursing Assistant Clinical (NAC) certificate holders and Registered General Nurse (RGN) diploma graduates seeking to upgrade their qualifications.

This initiative aims to bridge the professional development gap in Ghana’s healthcare system and enhance the competencies of nurses to meet global standards.

Strengthening Nursing Education in the North

With the increasing demand for highly trained health professionals in Ghana and beyond, the launch of the BSc Nursing programme is expected to boost access to advanced nursing education in the northern part of the country, particularly in the Upper West Region.

College administrators have assured prospective applicants of modern facilities, qualified faculty, and a curriculum aligned with both national health priorities and international best practices.

Admissions will open in the coming months, and detailed guidelines will be made available through the college’s communication channels.
