NTC urges patience from GTLE candidates as the Ministry of Education sets up a committee to review the teacher licensure system under Ghana’s Reset Agenda.
Accra, Ghana – May 20, 2025 – The National Teaching Council (NTC) has announced ongoing efforts in collaboration with the Ministry of Education to address concerns raised by prospective and resit candidates of the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE).
In a press statement signed by Dennis Osei Owusu, Head of Public Affairs at the NTC, the Council confirmed that a high-level committee has been established by the Honourable Minister of Education to conduct a comprehensive review of the current teacher licensure framework. This initiative forms part of the government’s broader Reset Agenda for education reform.
The committee is expected to submit its final report by next week, after which appropriate steps will be taken in consultation with key stakeholders.
Candidates Urged to Remain Calm
Amid rising anxiety among GTLE candidates over examination timelines and policies, the NTC has called for patience and calm, assuring that no decision will be made that puts candidates at a disadvantage.
“We therefore implore all GTLE prospective and resit candidates to exercise patience, as the Ministry will not take any step that will unduly disadvantage them,” the statement said.
The move signals the government’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and the professional development of teachers in Ghana’s education sector.
Further updates are expected following the submission of the committee’s report.
