NTC Announces Teacher License Renewal and Card Replacement Exercise in Central Region
The National Teaching Council (NTC) has announced a teacher license renewal and card replacement exercise for teachers in the Central Region as part of its nationwide initiative. The exercise aims to ensure that all teachers comply with the licensing requirements set by the Education Regulatory Bodies Act, 2020 (Act 1023).
Scheduled Dates and Locations
The exercise is set to take place in three districts within the Central Region, with the following schedule:
- Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District: February 13-15, 2025
- Agona West Municipality: February 13-15, 2025
- Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District: February 14-15, 2025
Who Needs to Participate?
All teachers currently practicing within these districts who need to renew their licenses or replace lost or damaged license cards are required to take part in the exercise. Failure to comply may result in difficulties in continuing professional practice as a certified teacher in Ghana.
What to Bring for the Exercise?
Teachers participating in the exercise are advised to bring:
- A valid National ID card (Ghana Card, Passport, or Voter’s ID)
- Their current teacher license card (if applicable)
- Any required renewal or replacement fees
Importance of the License Renewal Exercise
The teacher licensing initiative, spearheaded by the NTC, aims to improve the quality of education in Ghana by ensuring that all educators meet the necessary professional standards. The renewal process helps to:
- Keep teachers updated with new pedagogical methods and professional standards
- Ensure accountability and credibility in the teaching profession
- Provide access to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programs for teachers
