NSMQ 2025: Achimota, Opoku Ware, Aburi Girls, and Keta SHTS Advance After Tuesday’s One-Eighth Stage Contests

 

Achimota School, Opoku Ware School, Aburi Girls, and Keta SHTS emerged victorious in Tuesday’s NSMQ 2025 One-Eighth contests, securing their spots in the quarter-final stage with impressive performances.


The National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) 2025 continued its One-Eighth Stage contests on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, with several thrilling encounters that saw some of Ghana’s top senior high schools battle fiercely for a place in the quarter-finals.

The day’s contests were marked by intensity, precision, and resilience, as both seeded and unseeded schools demonstrated strong scientific reasoning and teamwork across eight auditoriums.


Mawuli School Opens the Day with a Commanding Win

In the first contest of the day, Mawuli School from the Volta Region secured a decisive victory with 48 points, outperforming Armed Forces SHTS (38 pts) and Berekum Presby SHS (33 pts).
This win places Mawuli School firmly in the quarter-final stage, reinforcing their legacy as a powerhouse in the NSMQ arena.


St. Peter’s Qualifies by a Single Point

The second contest ended in a nail-biting tie as St. Peter’s SHS and Osei Tutu SHS both scored 38 points, narrowly edging Okuapemman School, which trailed with 37 points.
After applying the NSMQ’s tie-breaking rules, St. Peter’s SHS (Persco) advanced to the next stage by virtue of a higher problem-solving accuracy.


Accra Academy, Aburi Girls, and Keta SHTS Impress

Accra Academy delivered a confident performance, amassing 48 points to overcome Aggrey Memorial AME Zion (34 pts) and Kwahu Tafo (26 pts).
Meanwhile, Aburi Girls’ SHS displayed outstanding intellectual teamwork, winning with 56 points ahead of Apam SHS (46 pts) and Konongo Odumase (44 pts) in a close contest.

Keta SHTS also proved formidable, dominating with 56 points, while Chemu SHTS and Accra High School scored 25 and 9 points, respectively.


Opoku Ware and Achimota Dominate with the Day’s Highest Scores

The biggest wins of the day came from Opoku Ware School and Achimota School.
Opoku Ware (“Akatakyie”) showcased their brilliance with a commanding 67 points, defeating Amenfiman SHS (36 pts) and Fijai SHS (30 pts).
In a parallel contest, Achimota School (“Motown”) posted the day’s highest score of 68 points, outclassing Krobo Girls’ Presby (34 pts) and Simms SHS (14 pts).

Both schools advance as strong contenders for the national trophy.
