Mawuli School Marks 75th Anniversary with New Dormitory Project and Government Support

 

Mawuli School celebrates its 75th Anniversary in Ho under the theme “Empowering the Head, Heart, and Hand into the Future”, with major infrastructure pledges and government investment.


A Celebration of 75 Years of Excellence

Mawuli School in Ho, one of Ghana’s foremost senior high schools, marked its 75th Anniversary today, October 25, 2025, under the inspiring theme “Empowering the Head, Heart, and Hand into the Future.” The event drew national attention as government officials, alumni, and education stakeholders gathered to honour the school’s legacy of academic and moral excellence.


Distinguished Guests Grace the Occasion

The colourful celebration was attended by Hon. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister; Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Minister for Education; Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, Minister for Roads and Highways; and H.E. Ben Dotse Malor, Deputy Ambassador to the United States of America. Also present were Members of Parliament, MDCEs, staff, students, and proud old students of the school.


Sod Cut for a 650-Capacity Dormitory

Earlier in the day, a sod-cutting ceremony was held for the construction of a 650-capacity dormitory for both male and female students. The project represents a significant step toward addressing the school’s accommodation challenges and enhancing its learning environment.


Government’s Commitment to Educational Infrastructure

Delivering remarks on behalf of Her Excellency the Vice President, the Minister for Education announced a GHS 300 million government investment to upgrade infrastructure in selected Category A and B schools nationwide, including Mawuli School as one of the key beneficiaries.

The Vice President also made a personal donation of GHS 50,000 to support the school’s ongoing development initiatives.


Future Educational Developments in the Volta Region

The Education Minister revealed further plans to establish a School of Pharmacology and Biomedical Engineering in Keta, a new university in Jasikan, and a Centre of Excellence Special School in Ho. These projects form part of government’s broader agenda to expand access to quality education in the Volta Region.


Celebrating a Beacon of Discipline and Knowledge

In his address, the Education Minister commended Mawuli School for 75 years of sustained excellence, discipline, and leadership development. He described the school as “a true beacon of knowledge and moral strength in the Volta Region and Ghana as a whole.”

As the celebration continues, Mawuli School stands as a proud symbol of resilience and transformation—preparing future generations to lead with intellect, integrity, and innovation.
