Teachers who obtained their Degrees from Sandwich and Distance Education are to be sacked from the Public Senior High Schools, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed.
A directive from the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service to all Regional Directors of Education to be communicated to such teachers indicated.
In a letter sighted by EducationGhana.net ,dated April 18,2019, from the Kwahu Affram Plains South Education Directorate to the headmaster of St.Fidelin Senior High Technical, such teachers must be withdrawn and reposted to the Basic Schools.
”Following Directives from the Director -General, all teachers who obtained their degrees through Distance,Sandwich and Foundation Programmes and are teaching in the Senior High Schools are to be withdrawn and re-posted to the basic schools”the letter said.
With emphasis on the directive, the letter said the directive was in compliance with the policy which prevents sandwich and distance teachers from teaching in Senior High Schools.
”This is with Compliance with the policy which prevents Sandwich and Distance Teachers from Teaching in Senior High Schools” It said.
Contradictions
This directive,if entirely true, contradicts an earlier directive from the Ghana Education Service which suggests that teachers who obtained Degrees in Basic Education but have been posted to the Senior High Schools to be reposted to the basic schools.
