JUST IN: Gov’t pays Teacher Trainees’ Two-Month Allowance Arrears

Teacher Trainees in the Public Colleges of Education have been paid their allowances that have been in arrears some two months ago.

The  Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) in a message to all trainees ,indicated their allowances have been paid with arrears if any.

”You June 2019 Allowance and arrears,If any ,have been paid.Please go to the bank,load and withdraw your cash.You may Call …….. for Help.” The message read.

The delay

Teacher Trainees in the public Colleges of Education had lamented on the fate of their allowances which have been in arrears since May 2019.

The Teacher Trainees at the Public Colleges of Education were being assured of receiving two months allowances at the end of June 2019.

The Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) was quoted to have assured the leadership of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana(TTAG).

Tears Flow Over Delay

A Teacher Trainee from Atebubu College of Education ,who could  not ‘tolerate’ the effect of the delay took to social media in tears to show his displeasure.

Meanwhile,his tears,which was one among many ,sent a signal to government on the need to release the allowances on time.

The Allowance Restoration

The New Patriotic Party government prior to the 2016 elections promised teacher trainees of the possibility of restoring their allowances

that was been swapped for Feeding Fee by the then John Mahama led NDC government.

Delivering on his promises,the NPP government after winning power restored the teacher trainees’ allowances.
