The Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) has said that the government has employed all 2019 graduates from the Country’s Colleges of Education for the 2020/21 Academic Year.
The Minister made this revelation on Monday, October 5, 2020, during the Ghana Teacher Prize event being held at the University of Cape Coast.
According to the Minister, all teachers from the Colleges of Education who have passed their licensure exams and completed National Service have been automatically employed by the Ghana Education Service (GES).
He indicated, that, the number includes graduates who had failed in some papers due to several reasons.
“All teachers of the 2019 batch, who have taken the National Service and passed the licensure exams are being processed for automatic employment now,” he added.

Confirmation
In a related development, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education, Mr Kwasi Obeng-Fosu confirmed the information and explained that even the 2017/2018 batch that came picketing at the premises of GES/MOE was the first to be considered for employment a few months ago.
University Graduates
The Public Relations Officer further indicated, that about 6,000 Graduates from the Universities who obtained their Certificates either by Distance, Sandwich or Regular and read Education-related courses shall be considered for employment after the Ghana Education Service has completed that of the 2019 batch from Colleges of Education.
Achievements
According to Mr Obeng-Fosu, over 93,700 teachers will be employed by the end of the ongoing recruitment.
He expressed government’s commitment to raise the credibility and to professionalize the teaching job to meet world standards as well as produce the best teachers to prepare our future leaders to acquire the right skills and expertise for the development of Ghana.
He gave the following statistics:

1. Double Track Teaching staff = 8,872
2. Non-teaching staff for Double Track = 1,445
3. Newly Trained Teachers = 14,500
